Born 09.04.1962 in Lviv, Ukraine. Graduated from Lviv Fine Art Academy in 1984 with distinction.
Filmmaker, artist, creator of extensive projects in the field of visual art.
Member of Ukrainian Film Academy.
Took part at more than 160 international art exhibitions. Laureate at 26 of them in Canada, the United States, South Korea, Latvia, Poland, Norway, Spain, and Ukraine. Among 24 personal exhibitions, one bears the distinction of being the first art exhibit ever to be held in space, aboard the Space Station Mir, in 1993. The artworks of Ihor Podolchak are housed in 26 museums and public collections worldwide.
The first feature film “Las Meninas” has been screened at 23 international film festivals and nominated for main awards on 10 of them. Ukrainian National Association of Cinematographers named “Las Meninas” as one of “20 Best Ukrainian Films of 1992 -2011”.
“Delirium”, the second Podolchak's feature film, was awarded “First Prize” at Baghdad International Film Festival, nominated for the main awards at 4 and shown at 15 international film festivals. The film was ranked No.5 in “Top-10 Ukrainian films of 2012“.
Ihor Podolchak was ranked No.8 in the list “10 greatest Ukrainian filmmakers” by Forbes Ukraine.
